Why Everyone’s Talking About the Giant Trolls at Dix Park in Raleigh
Have you guys been to see the Trolls? You may be asking yourself what trolls? If you haven’t heard, five giant trolls have arrived at Dix Park!
This isn’t just art. It’s an interactive story told through giant sculptures, hidden clues, and poetry. It’s about curiosity, nature conservation, and connection. You know what the best part is? You’re literally walking inside the story.
Here’s the scoop. You have seven of Thomas Dambo’s trolls total. Five right here in Raleigh, plus one in Highpoint and one in Charlotte. There is Mom, Dad and their 5 kids called the “fivelings”. You also have the Grandmother tree. She’s basically a huge ancient tree that all the trolls depend on. She keeps the forest balanced and alive. You are also part of the story! Think about yourself kind of like the narrator. You get to decide what’s next. Long story short, the trolls cast a spell to hide the Grandmother tree so no one can find and harm her.
I had the chance to visit the trolls this weekend with my parents, and honestly I think it’s fun for all ages. How cool that Raleigh was chosen for this incredible installation? I loved learning the story behind the trolls and how they protect nature and remind us to see the magic in the world around us. At Garman Homes, we’ve always believed every home and every experience has a story worth telling. The trolls are a perfect reminder that the best stories connect us to something bigger, whether it’s family and friends, a forest, or the place we call home.
So…are you going to check out the trolls?
