Which Kind of Fall Are You? Our Triad Fall Hit List 🍂

09/24/2026 | By Chloe Ruffieux

The Triad does fall pretty well.

We're talking crisp evenings, wide-open fields, farm days, brewery patios, seasonal food and plenty of places to get outside without having to spend the entire day in a car.

So whether you're the person who plans their entire October around pumpkins or the person who just wants a cozy patio and something warm to eat, there's a fall activity for you.

Let's find out which one.

🍂 The Active One

You don't hibernate. You hike.

Fall is arguably the best time to get outside in North Carolina. The air is cooler, the leaves start putting on a show and suddenly a walk outside sounds significantly better than it did three months ago.

Here are a few Triad spots worth adding to your fall rotation.

Cedarock Park | Burlington
This 500-acre park has hiking and equestrian trails, a waterfall, fishing, disc golf, camping and even canoe and kayak rentals. Basically, "let's go outside" can turn into an entire afternoon here.

Horizons Park | Rural Hall
A woodsy option with hiking loops, mountain bike trails, disc golf and a dog park. Great for when everyone in your group has a slightly different definition of "outdoorsy."

The Quarry at Grant Park | Winston-Salem
A little different from your traditional trail, with overlooks and a pier looking out over the quarry's deep blue water. Pretty, peaceful and especially good for a fall sunset.

Kerner Mill Greenway | Kernersville
An easy, scenic option for a quick walk or run when you want some fresh air but don't necessarily want to make a whole production out of it.

🍺 The Outsidey, Not Outdoorsy One

You want the fall scenery. You just want a patio involved.

You like being outside. You just prefer your version of "outdoorsy" to include a drink, some food and somewhere comfortable to sit.

Again, completely reasonable.

Brown Truck Brewery | High Point
Big patio, rotating taps and plenty of room to gather. Throw in a crisp evening and this becomes a pretty convincing argument for leaving the house.

Summerfield Farms | Summerfield
Wide-open fields, fresh air and plenty of space to slow down. It's not a brewery, but it has the same "let's spend the whole afternoon outside" energy that makes fall so good.

Print Works Bistro | Greensboro
A waterside patio with lush landscaping and a tucked-away European feel. It's the polished version of sitting outside in a sweater and ordering one more thing because it's too nice to leave.

Green Valley Grill | Greensboro
A classic courtyard setting with a little more of an elevated fall-dinner feel. Think crisp evening, warm lighting and lingering over dinner instead of immediately heading home.

🎃 The Pumpkin Everything One

You heard "fall" and immediately started looking for a pumpkin patch.

If your ideal October involves corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkins and approximately 47 opportunities for a seasonal photo, we've got you.

Cedarock Park | Burlington
Already worth the trip for the trails and waterfall, but the historic farm and wide-open grounds make it especially nice when you're chasing that classic fall-outing feeling.

Kersey Valley Attractions | Archdale
Corn mazes, fall attractions and plenty of reasons to make an afternoon of it. Basically, show up ready to embrace the season.

McLaurin Farms | Greensboro
Pumpkins, hayrides and classic farm-fall energy. Come ready to embrace the season and leave with approximately one million photos.

🍎 The Fall Foodie

You don't just want fall vibes. You want fall flavors.

Some people see the leaves changing.

You see an opportunity to eat something seasonal.

This is your section.

Körner's Folly Oktoberfest | Kernersville
Okay, technically this could also live in the Fall Festive category, but the food deserves its own moment. German-inspired food, beer and all the hearty, savory things you want when the temperature finally drops below 70. Your excuse to make an entire meal out of Oktoberfest.

McLaurin Farms | Greensboro
Come for the pumpkins, stay for the seasonal treats. Fall farm food is its own food group, and this is the time of year for cider, apple treats and anything involving a warm baked good.

Ingram Farms | High Point
This one is all about eating with the season. The farm offers fresh produce and seasonal events, so what's available changes throughout the year. In fall, that's exactly what we want: whatever is freshest, most local and most likely to end up in a pie.

The Blend | Burlington
For the fall foodie who wants to start the day with something warm and comforting. Grab a latte and one of their croissant sandwiches, then consider it breakfast with a side of sweater weather.

Joy Bar Coffee | High Point
The Cinnamon Toast Latte is basically fall in a cup. Cinnamon, sweetness and a warm coffee shop to hide out in when the morning has a little more chill than expected.

🧸 The Cozy One

Your fall plans involve making something, wearing something soft or staying inside on purpose.

Not every fall activity needs to involve leaving the house at 8 a.m. and packing snacks.

Sometimes you just want to make something, get cozy and lean into the season.

Strike & Flame Candle Bar | Greensboro
Make your own candle, build a custom scent and leave with something that makes your home smell like fall. Think of it as the adult version of making a craft at the kitchen table, except the end result is actually useful.

Center for Visual Artists | Greensboro
Take a pottery class and make something with your own two hands. Their adult pottery program offers ongoing classes and workshops, including projects like candle holders. A handmade candle holder + an actual candle + a blanket = we've basically solved fall.

Lighthouse Candle Factory | Kernersville
If you're in the Kernersville area and want the candle-making experience, this is another local option. Their in-store classes let you make your own candle while learning a little about the process behind it.

A Fall Craft Night at Home
You don't need a class for everything. Put on a movie, make a batch of apple cider, pull out the craft supplies and try something you've been saving on Pinterest for six months.

Paint a pumpkin. Press some leaves. Make a wreath.

The bar is low. The vibes are high.

And if you really just want to stay home...

Make an apple cider old fashioned: apple cider, bourbon, bitters and a cinnamon stick.

Bake something aggressively autumnal: apple crisp, pumpkin bread, apple muffins or whatever recipe has been haunting your saved posts.

Or make a pumpkin cream cold brew for the people who aren't emotionally prepared to give up iced coffee just because the temperature dropped.

Light a candle. Put on a sweater. Make something warm.

Congratulations. You are now doing fall correctly.

So... which kind of fall are you?

The trail person. The pumpkin person. The apple cider donut person. The brewery patio person. The "let's make something" person.

Or, more realistically, a little bit of all of them.

Either way, fall is your excuse to get outside, eat something seasonal, find a new favorite spot and enjoy the Triad while the weather is actually cooperating. 🍂
