Spring Home Maintenance Checklist: 7 Must-Do Tips for Homeowners
Happy pollen season! We figured it was a good time to check in with you about a few home maintenance reminders. I know, I know you would rather be at the pool or the beach, but knocking these out now will free up your whole summer ;)
1. Clean & Inspect Gutters
Winter has a way of leaving behind more than memories. Clear out any debris from gutters and downspouts so spring showers can do their thing (without ending up in places they shouldn’t).
Pro tip: Check that water is draining away from your foundation.
2. Service Your HVAC for Cooling Season
Your A/C is about to clock in for the season. Swap filters, clear debris around the outdoor unit, and schedule a tune-up if needed.
A little prep now = cool, comfortable days ahead (without the mid-July panic).
3. Check Exterior Caulking & Paint
Take a walk around your home and look for cracked caulk or peeling paint—especially around windows, doors, and trim.
Sealing things up now keeps moisture out and your home looking fresh.
4. Test Outdoor Faucets & Irrigation
Turn on hose bibs and irrigation systems to make sure everything is running smoothly after winter.
Look for leaks, low pressure, or anything…unexpected. (Spring surprises should be flowers, not plumbing issues.)
5. Inspect Windows & Screens
Open things up and let the fresh air in—but first, check screens for tears and windows for proper operation.
Clean glass + working screens = instant mood boost.
6. Check & Clean Dryer Vent
Lint buildup is more than annoying—it’s a fire hazard. Clean the lint trap regularly and check the exterior vent to make sure air is flowing freely.
Pro tip: If it’s been a while, consider a professional cleaning.
7. Check Drainage & Yard Grading
Spring rain can reveal a lot. Make sure water is draining away from your home and not pooling near the foundation. If you spot erosion or low areas, a quick fix now can prevent bigger issues later.
